Imbalance
Detector Removal
CAUTION
Do
not
turn
the
RT6000
centrifuge on
its
side.
Any
position
other than
upright
may
cause compressor damage.
1.
Set the
POWER
switch
to
ON,
and
open
the
centrifuge
Ud.
2.
Set the
POWER
switch to
OFF,
and
unplug
the
centrifuge
power
cord.
3.
Remove
the
four screws
and
grounding
lockwasher,
located
on
left
side of
centrifuge,
that
secure
the
access panel
to
the
centrifuge
frame,
and
remove
the
panel.
NOTE
Refer
to
figure
5-18
for
parts
location and identification. Retain all
hardware for
reassembly,
unless
instructed
otherwise.
4.
Release the tension
on
the
drive
belt
by
loosening
the nut
on
the
retaining
hook
(located
next
to
the
motor)
and twisting
the
motor counterclockwise.
5.
Lift
the
plastic
cap
Inside the
rotor
chamber
on
the
gyro
assembly,
and
remove
the
black
rubber
gyro
seal and foam
Insulating
ring.
6.
Disconnect
the
Imbalance detector
cable,
P/J17.
7.
Remove
the
three
mounting screws
and
lockwashers
that
secure
the
gyro
assembly
to
the
drive
plate.
8.
Remove
the
nut
that
secures
the imbalance
bracket to
the
shock
mount
on
the
drive
plate.
9.
Slowly
lift
the
gyro
assembly
up.
while
maintaining
tension
on
the
drive
belt.
When
the
gyro
assembly
has been
lifted
sufficiently,
grasp
the drive belt
and
continue
to
hold the
tension. Secure
the
drive belt
to
the
lip
of
the
chamber
opening using
a
formed
paperclip.
Remove
the
gyro
assembly.

Gyro
Assembly
Upgrade
1.
Remove
the
pulley
from
the
bottom
of the
gyro
assembly
as
follows:
NOTE
Depending on
the
centrifuge
serial
number,
the
pulley
may
be cither double-
grooved or
single-grooved
(figure
5-8).
If
the
pulley
is
single-grooved,
go
to
step 2.
However,
if
the
pulley
is
double-grooved,
you
need
the Belt
and
Pulley Replacement
Kit, Cat.
No.
07728,
to
upgrade
the
motor and
gyro
to
the
current
pulley
configuration
before
proceeding.
