Ensure that a CD is inserted, and if it is scratched or dirty, replace or clean it. If the laser lens is steamed up, wait until it clears. Also, use a finalized CD-R / CD-RW or a suitable CD Audio disc. Make sure the CD is not encoded with Copyright protection technologies and select CD mode by pressing the FUNCTION button.

Ensure that a USB memory stick is inserted and that it is not encoded with Copyright protection technologies. Select USB mode by pressing the FUNCTION button. If the issue persists, try a different USB memory stick, as the current one might not fully comply with the USB 1.1/2.0 standard.
