1.6.2 Risk of explosion
It is forbidden to heat, cut or burn
1.7 OTHER RISKS
Arc welding and related processes are not
associated with other hazards not
mentioned before.
cleaning tanks, barrels or containers of
toxic or flammable materials. There is a
risk of an explosion, even though they
have been emptied and cleaned.
1.7.1 Burns
1.6.3 Use of cylinders
with shield gas
• Never touch hot parts with your bare
hand.
• Allow the item to cool down before
moving it.
• Use appropriate tools to hold hot parts
and wear special welding gloves and
clothing to protect against burns.
When using compressed gases in the
workplace, special precautions must be
taken to prevent hazardous situations.
• Use gas cylinders with the appropriate
shielding gas for the process being carried
out. Additional equipment (pressure
regulator, hoses, couplings) should be in
good technical condition. The cylinder and
additional equipment should have valid
certificates and approvals for use.
• Always store the cylinder in an upright
position, chained to the chassis or fixed
support.
• Cylinders should be located away from
areas where they may be tipped over
or physically damaged.
• There should be a safe distance from
the place of electric welding or electric
cutting, and away from other sources
of heat, sparks or flames.
• Adequate precautions must be taken to
ensure that gas cylinders kept in the vicinity
of the work site do not become part of the
welding circuit.
• Never allow the electrode, electrode holder
or other electrically "hot" part to come
into contact with the cylinder.
• Keep your head away from the cylinder valve
seat when opening the valve.
• Always use the special valve cover when
transporting the cylinder or when the
cylinder is not in use.
1.7.2 The plasma arc is dangerous
The highly concentrated plasma arc is
dangerous to health and life. It is forbidden
to direct the plasma arc towards people.
1.7.3 The welding wire can hurt
Accidental activation of the button on the
welding gun may result in uncontrolled
wire feed. The end of the welding wire
may be sharp.
Never point the torch tip towards your
face, eyes or other people.
