Overview

The Speakman SM-1010 Neo™ Collection Combination Series is a comprehensive shower system designed to provide a complete and integrated showering experience. This series includes a shower valve trim, a shower arm with a wall flange, and a low-flow multi-function shower head, all working together to deliver a consistent and enjoyable water flow. The system is built around a Speakman Sentinel Mark II® Pressure Balance Shower Valve, which is a core component ensuring stable water temperature and pressure.

Function Description:

The primary function of the SM-1010 combination series is to control and deliver water for showering. The central element, the Speakman Sentinel Mark II® Pressure Balance Shower Valve (CPV-PB), is crucial for maintaining a consistent water temperature and pressure, even when other water sources in the house are in use. This pressure balance feature prevents sudden temperature changes, enhancing user comfort and safety. The valve is designed for both sweat and thread connections, offering flexibility during installation.

The CPT-1001 Sentinel Mark II® Shower Valve Trim provides the user interface for controlling the shower. This trim allows for easy adjustment of water flow and temperature. The design of the trim is intended to be intuitive, enabling users to quickly find their desired settings.

The S-2540 Shower Arm with Wall Flange serves as the conduit that extends from the wall to position the shower head. Its design ensures a secure and stable mounting point for the shower head, directing the water flow downwards into the shower area.

The S-3010-E2 Low Flow Multi Function Shower Head is responsible for delivering the water in various spray patterns. As a multi-function head, it offers different spray options, allowing users to customize their showering experience from a gentle rain to a more invigorating massage. The "low flow" aspect indicates its design for water efficiency, helping to conserve water without compromising the showering experience.

Usage Features:

The SM-1010 system is designed for ease of use and a customizable showering experience. The pressure balance valve ensures a stable water temperature, preventing scalding or sudden cold shocks, which is a key safety and comfort feature. The trim allows for smooth and precise adjustments of both water temperature and volume.

The multi-function shower head offers versatility in spray patterns. Users can easily switch between different spray modes to suit their preference, whether they desire a wide, drenching spray or a more focused, pulsating massage. This adaptability makes the shower suitable for various needs and preferences.

The system is designed for standard plumbing connections, making it compatible with typical residential installations. The rough-in template provided with the valve assists installers in achieving the correct mounting depth and alignment, ensuring proper functionality and aesthetic integration into the bathroom wall. The ability to mount the valve back-to-back with another valve in a shared space, with reversed hot and cold inlets, adds flexibility for specific architectural layouts.

Maintenance Features:

Maintaining the SM-1010 combination series is straightforward, focusing on regular cleaning and periodic internal checks to ensure long-term performance.

For external components like the shower valve trim, shower arm, and shower head, regular cleaning with a soft cloth and mild soap is recommended. This helps to preserve the finish and prevent the buildup of soap scum or mineral deposits. The use of harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners is discouraged as they can damage the finish and void the product warranty. For chrome-plated shower heads, a solution of white vinegar and water can be used to break down excessive mineral deposits, followed by thorough rinsing. Turning the handle to the "FLOOD" position to drain water after use can also help reduce mineral buildup.

Internal maintenance for the pressure balance shower valve involves periodic inspection and cleaning of components such as the spring check stop. This should be performed at least every 12 months, or after any changes to the building's plumbing system, to ensure that the stop poppet moves freely. For valves installed outdoors, winterization by removing internal parts and draining standing water is advised to prevent damage from freezing.

The temperature limiting stop (TLS) on the valve, which is factory-set to 110°F, can be adjusted if needed. This adjustment allows users or installers to fine-tune the maximum hot water temperature delivered by the shower, adding another layer of safety and customization. This setting should be checked quarterly.

The design of the valve allows for the removal and reinstallation of the valve cartridge, integral stops, and diverter cartridge (if applicable) for cleaning or replacement. This modularity simplifies servicing, as individual components can be addressed without needing to replace the entire valve assembly. Instructions for disassembling and reassembling these parts are provided, including guidelines for proper alignment and torque specifications to ensure correct functionality and prevent damage.
