How to fix a Speed Queen that won't start?
    • A
      Amanda WrightAug 20, 2025
If your Speed Queen Dryer won't start, ensure the power cord is fully plugged into the electrical outlet. Also, check that the loading door is completely closed and push the timer knob in to start the dryer. Verify the laundry room fuses aren’t blown or loose, and circuit breakers aren’t open. Note that the dryer itself doesn't have an electrical fuse, but the electrical circuit for an electric dryer has two fuses. Finally, the motor overload protector might have cycled; wait 10 minutes and try again.

Why is my Speed Queen not heating up?
    • D
      daniel06Aug 22, 2025
If your Speed Queen Dryer isn’t heating, first ensure the timer isn't set to COOL DOWN, COOL TUMBLE, or EXTENDED TUMBLE, and the Fabric Selector isn't set to NO HEAT. For electric dryers, check both fuses or circuit breakers. Also, make sure the laundry room fuses aren’t blown or loose, or that the circuit breakers aren’t open. Note that the dryer itself does not have an electrical fuse, but an electric dryer has an electrical circuit with two fuses. If you have a gas dryer, ensure the equipment and main gas line valve are turned on. Check the exhaust duct to the outside to see if it's kinked, blocked, or needs cleaning, and verify the weather hood flapper moves freely and isn't blocked.

What to do if Speed Queen Dryer is not drying clothes properly?
    • S
      Sarah RichardsonAug 25, 2025
If your Speed Queen Dryer isn’t drying clothes well enough, start by checking the exhaust duct to ensure it isn't kinked, blocked, or in need of cleaning. Also, check the weather hood to make sure the flapper moves freely and isn't blocked. For automatic cycles, adjust to MAX, MORE, or LESS DRY. For timed cycles, allow more or less time. Ensure that you clean the lint filter, and avoid loads that are too small, as they may not tumble correctly or dry evenly. Also, consider the items being dried; heavy items mixed with lightweight items will affect drying time. Refer to the Sort section to ensure proper sorting techniques.

Why does the Speed Queen Dryer cycle take so long?
    • A
      anthonywrightAug 26, 2025
If the cycle on your Speed Queen Dryer advances too slowly, remember that automatic cycles advance slower than the Time Dry cycle. In an Automatic cycle, the time it takes for the timer to advance depends on the type and size of the load; clothing with more moisture causes the timer to advance slower than when the clothes are drier.

What to do if my Speed Queen Dryer won't heat?
    • T
      Timothy Kirby DDSAug 31, 2025
If your Speed Queen dryer isn't heating, first ensure that the timer isn't set to COOL DOWN or EXTENDED TUMBLE, and the Fabric Selector isn't set to NO HEAT. Some homes have two fuses or circuit breakers for electric dryers, so check both. Also, make sure the laundry room fuses aren’t blown or loose, or that the circuit breakers aren’t open. For gas dryers, confirm that the equipment and main gas line valve are turned on. Inspect the exhaust duct to the outside for kinks, blockages, or the need for cleaning. Finally, ensure the weather hood flapper moves freely and isn't blocked.

      Mario WebbSep 4, 2025
If your Speed Queen Dryer isn't drying clothes well enough, start by checking the exhaust duct to the outside to ensure it isn't kinked, blocked, or needs cleaning. Also, check the weather hood to make sure the flapper moves freely and isn't pushed in or blocked. If using an automatic cycle, adjust to the MAX, MORE, or LESS DRY setting. If using a timed cycle, allow more or less drying time. Clean the lint filter. Avoid drying loads that are too small. Be sure to check the load; heavy items dried with lightweight items will not dry as quickly as the rest of the load.

Why does the cycle advance too slowly on my Speed Queen Dryer?
    • J
      John BrownSep 6, 2025
If the cycle on your Speed Queen Dryer is advancing too slowly, remember that automatic cycles advance slower than the Time Dry cycle. Also, in an automatic cycle, the time it takes for the timer to advance depends on the type and size of the load being dried. When clothing has more moisture, the timer advances slower than when the clothes are more dry.
