How do you test your otation device using the Manual Inator?
Always test your otation device in a safe manner, under controlled conditions, and where
help is readily available.
1) To test your inatable otation device, you will need:
• Your fully armed otation device, and
• Rearming kit approved for your otation device.
2) Put on the otation device.
3) Activate the ination system by jerking rmly on the pull tab.
The otation device should fully inate within 5 seconds.
4) Get into shallow water, just deep enough that you can stand with your
head above the surface.
5) See if the otation device will oat you on your back or just slightly back
of vertical. In a relaxed oating position, verify that your mouth is well
above the water’s surface. Note the effect of where you hold your legs on how you
oat.
6) Get out of the water and remove the otation device. Remove the
used CO
2
cylinder from the otation device inator. Completely deate
the otation device using the oral inator.
7) Let the otation device dry thoroughly. REARM AND REPACK the otation device in
accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions!
