The Spinner® Elite is an indoor cycling bike designed for home use, replicating the feel of a real road bike to provide an enjoyable, effective, and fun workout. It is suitable for individuals looking to lose weight, stay in shape, or train for races. The bike offers heavy-duty construction and a range of adjustments, making it comparable to commercial Spinner® bikes.
Function Description
The Spinner® Elite operates as a direct-drive flywheel system, meaning the pedals will continue to spin as long as the flywheel is in motion, similar to a fixed-gear bicycle. This design provides a fluid pedal stroke and a non-impact workout. The bike features an adjustable resistance knob that allows users to increase or decrease the intensity of their workout. This knob also functions as an emergency brake; pushing it down will quickly stop the pedals and flywheel. The bike can be upgraded with a Performance SPINPower® crank for power-based training.
Usage Features
The Spinner® Elite is designed for a personalized fit and comfortable ride. Key adjustable components include:
- Saddle: The contoured saddle can be adjusted both horizontally (fore/aft) and vertically (height) to suit individual dimensional requirements. The angle of the saddle can also be adjusted for comfort.
- Handlebars: The handlebars feature a rubberized coated grip and a patented design that supports the four standard Spinning® hand positions. They are vertically adjustable to ensure a comfortable and safe riding posture.
- Pedals: The bike comes with dual-sided SPD®-compatible pedals. These pedals are set to a low release tension from the factory for safety, but the tension can be increased using a 3mm Allen wrench. Users should ensure their feet are securely fixed in the pedal cages or SPD cleats to prevent unintended movement.
- Resistance Knob: This knob allows for continuous adjustment of resistance. Turning it clockwise increases resistance, while turning it counter-clockwise reduces it. Pushing the knob down activates the emergency brake.
- Tablet Holder: The bike includes a tablet holder assembly, allowing users to integrate their mobile devices for entertainment or to access Spinning® Digital content during their rides.
The bike is designed for a single user at a time. It is important to wear suitable clothing and footwear, ensuring laces are tied and tucked in to avoid entanglement with moving parts. Before each ride, users should ensure all adjustments (saddle, handlebars, and resistance) are securely tightened and that the bike is stable on a level surface.
For an enhanced experience, users can access Spinning® Digital, which offers 24/7 on-demand rides with instructors, streamable to various Wi-Fi-enabled devices. Spinning® Digital+ further integrates real-time metrics and tracking by pairing with heart rate monitors and power cranks or cadence sensors, providing personal metrics and training zones.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the Spinner® Elite.
- Leveling the Bike: The bike has leveling feet on each corner of the front and rear stabilizer bars. All four feet must touch the ground to ensure stability. Adjust the feet by turning them counter-clockwise to decrease height or clockwise to increase height until the bike is stable and does not wobble.
- Preventing Rust: After each use, it is recommended to raise the handlebar post and seat post to their highest settings to allow moisture to evaporate. Wiping down all areas where moisture can settle with an absorbent cloth helps prevent rust.
- Protecting the Finish: The bike's finish should be protected by wiping it down with a damp cloth after each ride. Specialized bike cleaners like SPINTECH® Fitness Equipment Polish are recommended, and de-greasers should be avoided. When cleaning, the flywheel should be immobilized by turning the resistance knob clockwise, and hands, fingers, clothing, and cleaning cloths should be kept clear of the moving drivetrain.
- Pedal Maintenance: The pedals should be checked weekly to ensure their threads are completely tightened. If they become loose, they should be tightened with the supplied pedal wrench. Pedals are always tightened by turning the wrench over the top of the spindle towards the front of the bike.
- Brake Pad Examination: Before every ride, the brake pad, pedals, and drivetrain should be examined for signs of wear. The brake pad is a normal wear item and may need replacement over time. Instructions for brake pad replacement involve removing tension from the brake pad by turning the resistance knob counter-clockwise, then using a box wrench to remove and replace the two bolts supporting the brake pad.
- General Inspection: Functional and visual inspections should be performed before assembly is complete and prior to any ride. This includes checking all bolts for tightness, ensuring no parts are missing, and verifying that the handlebar and seat posts move freely and lock securely. Any defective or worn components should be replaced immediately, and the bike should not be used until serviced or repaired.
- Belt Tension: For instructions on belt tension and adjustment, users are directed to the Spinning® website.
The Spinner® Elite is designed for home (consumer) use and is not intended for commercial use. It is important to consult a physician before starting any exercise program and to stop exercising and seek medical attention if experiencing dizziness, nausea, chest pains, or other symptoms.
