Why Spirax Sarco MDU100 actuator does not receive commands and the valve is fully open?
    • B
      Breanna LucasAug 10, 2025
If the power is on, but the actuator isn't receiving commands, and the valve is fully open, it could be due to issues with the analog signal line or the valve position potentiometer. * Check the analog input signal. * Inspect the potentiometer on the valve and its connections.

What to do if Spirax Sarco MDU100 actuator does not receive commands and the thermal protection is open?

      lopeztheresaAug 15, 2025
If the power is on, but the actuator isn't receiving commands, and the valve remains in position with the yellow light on and the MDU100 thermal protection open, it indicates that the motor's thermal protection (RTV) has been triggered. If the thermal protection trips continuously, there may be a problem with the valve, motor winding, or a mechanical blockage. * Allow the motor to cool down, and if there are no rotor blockages, the unit will restart. * Reset the protection and check if the motor is short-circuited. If necessary, replace the motor. * Manually move the valve.

How to troubleshoot Spirax Sarco MDU100 when the motor doesn't move in local mode?
    • E
      Elizabeth ChristianAug 20, 2025
If the local/remote selector is set to 'local', there's no thermal intervention, the positioner LEDs are correct, but the motor doesn't move when commanded to open/close, it could be due to problems with relays K1 and K2 or the increase/decrease selector. Check the K1 and K2 relays and the selector. If they are out of service, replace them.

If the power switch is ON, but the indicator light is OFF, and the positioner LEDs are all off, it indicates a blown fuse. Replace the F2 fuse. Check the two fuses and replace the blown ones. Check the 3 fuses and replace the blown ones. Verify the 24 Vdc power supply.

Why Spirax Sarco DC Drives motor stays in position in remote mode?
    • E
      Eugene HarveyAug 29, 2025
If the local/remote selector is set to remote, the positioner LEDs are correct, and the motor remains in position without thermal intervention, relays K1 and K2 may have issues. Inspect the relays and replace them if they are out of service.
