the welded passage cannot be prevented, then a cleaning solution must be circulated. It
is recommended that you contact a supplier of cleaning agents for advice.
The welded and gasketed chambers of an APV welded plate pair may have
different pressure and fluid capabilities. Ensure the fluids are connected
correctly.
APV welded plate pairs are not suitable for sanitary duties where organic
fouling is expected, for example, dairy products.

5.4. Gaskets
The seal between the plates is achieved by a single or multi-piece gasket around the
perimeter of the plate and a double gasket around the two through ports. The double
gasket separates the port from the heat transfer area with a double barrier. The space
between the double gasket is vented to atmosphere to prevent cross contamination
(Figure 13). Multi-piece gaskets are addressed in Appendix 1.
Interlocking Gaskets
APV Plate Heat Exchanger plates have interlocking gaskets with upstanding lugs and
scallops evenly spaced around the outside edges. These scallops ensure that there are
no unsupported portions of the gaskets and, in combination with the patented form of
the pressed groove, provide mechanical plate-to-plate support for the sealing systems.
