shortening the handlebar width
Shortening the overall width of your SQlab aluminum and SQlab Carbon handlebars is possible, but it must be carried out in a dierent
manner depending on the material of each model:
SQlab Aluminium handlebars SQlab carbon handlebars
The SQlab 3OX handlebars (aluminum) can be shortened using a ne-too-
thed metal saw or a pipe cutter (to max. 720 mm). Aer shortening, de burr
the handlebar end.
The SQlab 3OX Carbon and 311 FL-X Carbon Handlebars can be shortened
using a ne-toothed metal saw (to max. 720 mm).
Warning
Even a short ride with one or more loose screws in the stem or on the add-on compo-
nents can damage the handlebars so much that they can no longer be safely used.
• Never cycle with loose handlebars.
Caution
Note that narrowing the handlebar width may aect the riding and steering charac-
teristics of the bicycle.
Prior to initial use, be sure to observe country-specic standards, rules and regula-
tions that may require a minimum and maximum handlebar width.
Warning
When shortening SQlab Carbon handlebars, never use a pipe cutter such as those
used to trim aluminum handlebars. This would damage the reinforced carbon mesh-
work.
• Use a ne-toothed saw.
Warning
Do not make any changes to the handlebars other than shortening the handlebar
ends. In particular, no drilling, painting or any other kind of modication may be
carried out.
