SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE 7–11
OVERHEATING
If the engine coolant temperature gauge
shows an overheating condition or you have
another reason to suspect the engine may
be overheating, stop and park the vehicle.
The air conditioning must be off. Leave the
engine idling for a few minutes and check that
the cooling fan is operating.
If the fan is not operating, turn the ignition off
and consult your Ssangyong Dealer immedi-
ately.
If the fan is operating and steam is not com-
ing from the engine compartment, open the
engine hood and idle the engine until it cools.

If the fan is operating but the temperature is
not lowered, stop the engine and let it cool.
Then, check the coolant level. If it’s low,
check for leaks in the radiator hoses and con-
nections, heater hoses and connections, ra-
diator, and water pump.
If you find a leak or other damage, or coolant
is still leaking, do not run the engine until these
problems have been corrected.
Consult Ssangyong Dealer immediately.
