Overview

The Stamina ATS 1405 Air Rower is a home-use exercise machine designed to provide a full-body workout, primarily focusing on cardiovascular fitness and muscle strengthening through a rowing motion. The device utilizes an air transfer system to generate resistance, mimicking the feel of rowing on water.

Function Description

The core function of the ATS 1405 Air Rower is to simulate the action of rowing, engaging multiple muscle groups simultaneously. Users sit on a sliding seat (54) and pull a handlebar (27) connected to a chain (11) that drives a fan assembly (5). The fan (5) creates air resistance, which increases with the intensity of the pull, providing a dynamic and challenging workout.

The device features a fitness meter (35) integrated into the console (36) to track workout progress. The meter displays several key metrics:

  • SPM (Strokes Per Minute): Shows the current stroke rate, ranging from 0 to 9999.
  • COUNT: Displays the total number of rows completed, from 0 to 9999.
  • DISTANCE: Tracks the distance covered, from 0 to 99.9 miles.
  • SPEED: Indicates the current speed, from 0 to 99.9 miles per hour.
  • TIME: Measures the duration of the workout, from 1 second up to 99:59 minutes.
  • CALORIES: Provides an estimate of calories burned, from 0 to 999 Kcal. This is an estimated value for an average user and is primarily for comparison between workouts.

The meter is powered by two AA batteries (not included). It automatically turns on with seat movement or by pressing the MODE button. After four minutes of inactivity, the meter automatically shuts off, preserving all function values. Users can reset all functions to zero by pressing and holding the MODE button for five seconds.

The rowing motion involves a coordinated effort of the legs, core, and upper body. The feet are secured in pedal straps (53) on the pedal supports (49, 50), ensuring stability during the leg drive. The seat (54) slides smoothly along the rail (1), allowing for a full range of motion.

Usage Features

The ATS 1405 Air Rower is designed for ease of use and safety, with several features to enhance the user experience.

  • Assembly: The product requires assembly, which is detailed in the manual. It is recommended that two people be available for assembly. Key steps include installing the pedal caps (52), securing the pedal supports (49, 50) to the front stand (3), attaching the front stand (3) to the rail (1), sliding the seat (54) onto the rail (1), attaching the rear stand (2) to the rail (1), and connecting the meter (35) to the console (36). The manual provides a hardware identification chart to assist with identifying bolts, screws, and washers.
  • Adjustable Seat: The seat (54) is designed to slide smoothly on the rail (1). If the seat rocks or is difficult to slide, the nylock nuts (78) on the seat carriage (55) can be adjusted to raise or lower the roller position, ensuring a stable and smooth ride.
  • Folding Design for Storage: The rower features a folding mechanism for convenient storage. The fan assembly can be folded backward by removing the pull pin (43) from the rail (1) and the locking knob (44) from the support frame (4). Once folded, the support frame (4) can be secured in position by reinserting the pull pin (43) into the rail (1) and screwing the locking knob (44) into the support frame (4) for storage.
  • Portability: The front stand (3) is equipped with wheels, allowing the rower to be easily moved for storage or repositioning. Users are advised to grasp the rear stand (2) to move the rower and avoid using the seat (54) for this purpose, as it may cause injury.
  • Safety Labels: The device includes a warning label (73) and a serial decal (99) that provide important safety information and product identification. Users are instructed to familiarize themselves with these labels and replace them if damaged or illegible.
  • Exercise Guidelines: The manual provides comprehensive conditioning guidelines, including recommendations for warm-up and cool-down exercises, target heart rate zones based on age, and advice on consulting a physician before starting an exercise program. Users are encouraged to start slowly, gradually increase intensity, and listen to their bodies to prevent injury.
  • Foot Support: The pedal straps (53) ensure that the user's feet remain securely in place during the rowing motion, preventing slippage and promoting proper form.
  • Handlebar: The handlebar (27) with foam grips (28) provides a comfortable and secure grip for the user's hands during the pulling phase of the stroke.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure the safety, integrity, and longevity of the ATS 1405 Air Rower.

  • Pre-Use Inspection: Before each use, users should inspect the rower for any worn or loose components. All bolts and nuts should be securely tightened. The support frame (4) and the locking knob (44) must be checked to ensure they are secure.
  • Roller Track Cleaning: The roller tracks on the rail (1) should be cleaned regularly with an absorbent cloth to ensure smooth seat travel and prevent debris buildup.
  • Caution Label Verification: The caution label (93) must be in place and easy to read. If it is missing or damaged, a replacement should be ordered from Stamina Products.
  • Component Replacement: Worn or damaged components must be replaced immediately. The rower should be removed from service until repairs are made. Only components supplied by Stamina Products should be used for maintenance and repair.
  • General Cleaning: After use, the rower should be wiped down with an absorbent cloth to keep it clean and prevent the accumulation of sweat and dust.
  • Battery Removal for Storage: If the rower is to be stored for one year or more, the batteries should be removed from the meter (35) to prevent damage to the electronics.
  • Resistance System Check: Periodically, users should sit on the seat (54) and pull the handlebar (27) to verify that the fan system provides adequate resistance and that the seat travel is smooth and stable.
  • Customer Support: Stamina Products offers customer care for parts and service. Users can contact them via email, phone, or fax for assistance with missing parts, damaged components, or general inquiries. The serial number of the device is required for efficient customer service.
  • Product Registration: Users are encouraged to register their product online to extend the parts warranty and facilitate customer support. A mail-in form is also provided for registration.
