Overview

This document outlines the installation and maintenance of the STEIN VIDA SQUARE SHOWER UNIT, a two-sided shower enclosure designed for residential use. The manual provides comprehensive instructions, from initial preparation to final sealing, ensuring a proper and durable installation.

Function Description:

The STEIN VIDA SQUARE SHOWER UNIT is a complete shower enclosure system, comprising a door panel, a return panel, and associated hardware. It is designed to create a sealed showering area within a bathroom, preventing water from escaping into the surrounding space. The unit features a pivot door mechanism, allowing for easy entry and exit. The design emphasizes a clean, modern aesthetic, with clear glass panels and minimalist framing. The system is intended to be installed in conjunction with an acrylic tray and wall lining, which are not included in this package but are essential for a complete and functional shower. The unit's construction and sealing method are specifically designed to allow any water that might accumulate within the wall channels to drain back into the shower area, preventing potential leaks and maintaining the integrity of the surrounding bathroom structure.

Usage Features:

The shower unit is designed for ease of use and durability. The toughened glass panels provide safety and a clear view, enhancing the showering experience. The pivot door mechanism allows for smooth operation. The design prioritizes water containment within the shower area, with specific instructions for external silicone sealing to ensure any internal moisture drains back into the tray. This design choice is critical for preventing water damage to the surrounding bathroom structure and is a key aspect of the product's warranty. The unit is suitable for a 900x900mm square shower space, offering a practical solution for various bathroom layouts.

Maintenance Features:

Maintenance of the STEIN VIDA SQUARE SHOWER UNIT primarily involves proper installation and regular cleaning.

  • Installation: Crucial for long-term performance. The manual emphasizes checking for freight damage upon receipt and advising the supplier within 8 hours if any is found. Faulty products should not be installed as this invalidates later claims. Solid fixing in walls for wall channels (20mm centre off outside of the acrylic tray) and plumbing fittings is essential. All plumbing must be completed by a registered plumber and in place before lining. The wall lining must be "Wet Area" grade, and the floor must be level, flat, and without deflection, with walls plumb and surfaces flat.
  • Sealing: A continuous 7mm bead of silicone must be applied to the back of the wall channels before fastening them to the wall, ensuring they remain plumb. Crucially, silicone sealant is applied only around the outside of the shower screen. Sealing the inside of the shower screen will void the warranty, as the design allows water to return into the shower area if it accumulates within the wall channel. A 24-hour drying period for the silicone is required before use. Additionally, the join between the wall profile and frame should be sealed 150mm up from the base on both sides.
  • Cleaning: Regular cleaning with rags and suitable cleaning materials is recommended to maintain the appearance and hygiene of the shower unit. The use of Sika Silaflex NG Translucent sealant is specified for installation, indicating a preference for a durable and appropriate sealant for wet environments.
  • Health & Safety: Glass is heavy and requires two people to handle. Always stand glass up after unpacking and use soft packing when in contact with hard surfaces. Avoid striking edges or corners on hard surfaces. Wear protective gloves and eye protection. Exercise special care when drilling walls to avoid hidden pipes or electrical cables.
