Felling
: Determine the direction of fall and make the felling notch as
described in the chainsaw's instruction manual.
STIHL recommends the following method:
Felling Notch
: Before switching on, turn the rotary knob (2) with laser diode so that
there is no risk of being dazzled by the beam.
: Press the switch (1) - laser diode is on.
: Turn the rotary knob (2) to line up the beam in your field of vision
(1 m to 2 m).
: Position your saw so that the laser beam points in exactly the
direction you want the tree to fall.
: Use the gunning sight on the saw's shroud and fan housing to check
the direction of fall again - the laser beam and gunning sight must be
parallel to each other. Both gunning aids must be at right angles to
the felling notch.
: Press the switch (1) to turn off the laser beam.
: Remove the Laser 2-in-1 from the holder.
: The procedure is now as described in the instruction manual of the
saw you are using.
