Removing the starter
N Remove screws (1)
N Lift the fan housing off of the
crankcase and pull it away to the
side
Removing the rope rotor
Version with ElastoStart
N Remove the spring clip (1)
N Carefully remove the rope rotor
with washer (2) and pawl (3)
Version with Easy2Start
N Remove the spring clip (1)
N Carefully remove the carrier with
washer (2) and pawls (3) from the
rope rotor
N Carefully pull off the rope rotor (4)
Replacing a torn starter rope
Version with ElastoStart
N Pry the cap out of the starter grip
N Remove remaining rope from the
rotor and starter grip
N Thread the new starter rope through
the starter handle and secure it by
making a simple overhand knot
N Pull the knot into the starter grip
N Refit the cap in the grip
Replacing the Starter Rope
and Rewind Spring
