7.5 Spark Plug Boot / Ignition
Lead
The ignition module (1) and
ignition lead (2) form a unit. A
new ignition module must be
installed if the ignition lead is
damaged.
: Lift the air guide shroud (1) a little
and pull the ignition lead (2) out
of the guides (arrows)
– take care not to distort the air
guide shroud.
: Use suitable pliers to pull the leg
spring out of the spark plug boot.
Unhook the leg spring from the
ignition lead.
Pull the boot off the ignition lead.

Installing
If the ignition module is new, use
a pointed tool to pierce the center
of the ignition lead’s insulation,
about 15 mm from the end of the
lead.
: Pinch the hook of the leg spring
into the pierced hole in the center
of the lead (arrow).
Coat the inside of the spark plug
boot with
STIHL press fluid, b

: Hold the ignition lead and leg
spring together and push them
into the spark plug boot.

: Make sure the leg spring (arrow)
locates properly inside the spark
plug boot.
Reassemble all other parts in the
reverse sequence.
7.6 Flywheel
The new puller 5910 890 4504 (with
a longer base block) must be used
on models with ErgoStart. The new
puller replaces the previous puller
1135 890 4500, which can still be
used on standard models.

: Unscrew the flywheel nut (1).
