Setting the Master Control lever
To move the Master Control lever from
the normal run position (F) to the starting
throttle position (n) or choke closed
position (l), press down the throttle
trigger interlock and squeeze the throttle
trigger at the same time.
Choke shutter closed (l)
– if the engine is cold.
– If the engine stalls when you open
the throttle after starting.
– If the fuel tank was run until empty
(engine stopped).
Starting throttle position (n)
– If the engine is warm, i.e. if it has
been running for about one minute.
– When the engine begins to fire.
– After clearing a flooded combustion
chamber.
Holding the saw
There are two methods of starting the
saw.
On the ground
N Place your saw on the ground.
Make sure you have a firm footing –
check that chain is not touching any
object or the ground.
N Hold the saw firmly on the ground
with your left hand on the front
handle – your thumb should be
under the handle.
N Put your right foot into the rear
handle and press down.
Between knees
N Hold the rear handle tightly between
your legs, just above the knees.
N Hold the front handle firmly with
your left hand – your thumb should
be under the handle.
