DRAINS
Refer to the Safety section in Chapter One of this manual for
further information on slurry compounds and waste disposal.
The Model 6DS-SP Planarizer has two drains, both clearly labeled and
located at the rear. The drain connection for the polish table drain tub is
labeled table drain (8). As mostly undiluted slurry will drain through the
table drain pipe during polishing, this pipe should be connected to a drain
system designed for handling the disposal of such materials.
The second drain, labeled loader drain (9) is connected to the drain tub
below the shuttle and elevators. With a standard machine configuration, this
pipe carries D.I. water and residual amounts of slurry; thus, it may not
require any special handling provisions. However, if a second polish table is
installed, this drain may carry slurry, which requires a connection to a drain
system designed for handling the disposal of such materials.
Both drain lines are 1-1/2" PVC pipe.
Although the table drain pipe incorporates a cleanout branch inside the
machine, an external cleanout is recommended for each drain pipe. Pipe
unions are also recommended--located near each drain pipe connection to
facilitate future pipe servicing or possible machine moving.
The slurry supply lines, slurry 1 supply (2) and slurry 2 supply (3), are
described Slurry System Connection, below.
