Correction Procedure
Notes:
Correction is made by inserting stainless shim washers on the flange
bearings of the two outer diameter bearing holes of the inner gimbal
ring.
Use a feeler gauge to determine the number of washers needed to meet
the goal.
1. Using a 1/8-in. hex key, rotate each of the two 1/4-20 x 1/4-in. set
screws locking the gimbal pins counterclockwise approximately two
revolutions to loosen.
2. Insert a 10-32 x 2 3/4-in. assembly screw into the threaded hole of each
outer gimbal pin, manually rotating the assembly screw clockwise
approximately three revolutions.
3. Remove both pins by pulling on the assembly screws.
4. Lift the outer gimbal ring off the inner gimbal ring.
5. Remove the flange bearings from the outside diameter holes of the inner
gimbal ring:
a. While holding the ring in a vertical position with one hand, palm
up, supporting the ring from the top inside with your fingers
surrounding one of the two outside diameter bearing holes,
insert the long end of the 6DS-SP flange bearing tool into the small
end of either outer diameter bearing.
b. Using a soft hammer, firmly tap the tool to knock the bearing out.
c. Remove the flange bearing tool.
d. Locate the second outer diameter bearing.
e. Repeat Steps a., b., and c., immediately above, to remove the
second outer diameter flange bearing from the inner gimbal ring.
