d. Check to be sure the flange of each spacer is mated with its
counterbore. If needed, lift the gimbal ring unit off, remove the
spacers, and repeat Steps a., b., and c., immediately above until the
inner spacers are correctly installed.
4. Assemble two assembly screw/inner gimbal pin units:
Note: The inner gimbal pins are shorter than the outer gimbal
pins.
a. Insert a 10-32 x 2 3/4-in. assembly screw into the threaded hole of
an inner gimbal pin, manually rotating the assembly screw
clockwise approximately three revolutions.
b. Repeat Step a., immediately above, to assemble a second assembly
screw/inner gimbal pin unit.
5. Move the entire unit to a corner of the maintenance fixture (or
workbench) top surface.
6. Pivot the outer gimbal ring to expose one of the two inner gimbal ring
flange bearing holes.
7. Install a assembly screw/inner gimbal pin unit in the exposed hole:
a. While holding a assembly screw/inner gimbal pin unit positioned
with the flat of the pin facing up, insert the unit into the exposed
hole of the flange bearing.
Be sure to push the pin unit in until it bottoms in the hole.
b. Insert a 1/4-20 x 1/4-in. set screw in the 1/4-in. threaded hole
located nearest the pin unit.
c. Using a 1/8-in. hex key, rotate the set screw clockwise to tighten,
securing it against the flat of the pin.
d. Remove the assembly screw from the pin by rotating it
counterclockwise.
