For Three-, Four-, and Five-Inch Carriers Only:
Substitute the procedures found in Section J., Wafer Backing Plate Adjustment -
For Three-, Four-, And Five-Inch Carriers Only, for Steps 10. through 26 in this
section.
For Both Six- and Eight-Inch Carriers:
10. Adjust the position of each jack screw until each protrudes beyond the
bottom of the plate by the amount stated in the goal shown below:
Goal for Eight-Inch Carriers Only:
GOAL: Each jack screw must protrude 1/8 in. (.125 in.) beyond
the opposite (front) side of the plate.
Notes: The 3/4-40 jack screws have 40 threads per inch.
1 revolution of the jack screw = .025 in.
5 revolutions x .025 = .125 in.
Goal for Six-Inch Carriers Only:
GOAL: Each jack screw must protrude .140 in. beyond the
opposite (front) side of the plate.
Note: Rotate each jack screw approximately 5 1/2 revolutions.
Jack Screw Position Adjustment Procedure for Both Eight- and Six
Inch Carriers:
a. Place the hand knob wrench on one of the jack screws.
b. Observe and note the orientation of the pointer located on the hand
knob wrench.
c. Carefully rotate the hand knob wrench clockwise exactly the
number of revolutions stated in the goal.
d. Carefully remove the hand knob wrench from the jack screw.
