3. Using the locking block and screw, secure the gimbal ring/manifold
plate assembly to the bench top carrier fixture.
4. Manually install the two pivoting ring retainers into the two 8-32 holes
located approximately at 4 o’clock and 8 o’clock.
Note: When installed, the pivoting retainers prevent the inner
gimbal ring and manifold assembly from rotating during
adjustments.
5. Using a Strasbaugh indicator depth gauge or depth micrometer, measure
the pocket depth at three equidistant points around the pocket:
Note: For details on using the indicator, refer to Step 16. in
Section G., above.
PRELIMINARY
GOAL:
The measurements at the three points must be
within +/- .001 in. of equal
and
the desired distance required, per the process
specification.
Record the measurements:
Point 1: ____ Point 2: ____ Point 3: _____
If the measurements meet the goal, no adjustment is needed.
If not, follow the procedures below to adjust the plate.
ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE
1. Remove the top plate from the carrier:
• Remove the four 8-32 screws securing the top plate by rotating
them counterclockwise.
2. Find the three jack screw assemblies located in the center of the carrier.
