12. Of the six readings, divide the value of the reading of the greatest
deviation (+ or -) from 0 by 2:
Value of reading of greatest deviation from 0 / 2 = _____
13. Position the dial indicator stylus at the point of greatest deviation from
0.
14. While watching the dial indicator, using a 1/8-in. hex key, adjust the
1/4-in. set screw located nearest the point of greatest deviation from 0:
GOAL: The set screw should be adjusted until the indicator
reading matches the value determined by the
calculation done in Step 12., above.
• Rotate the set screw clockwise or counterclockwise as needed until
the deviation from 0 of the indicator reading is diminished by 1/2.
Note: Do NOT adjust set screw D.
15. Repeat Steps 10., 11., 12., 13., and 14., above in this section until the
final leveling goal, shown below, is met.
FINAL
LEVELING
GOAL:
The indicator must read within +/- .001 in. of 0 at all
seven points.
16. When the final leveling goal has been met, using a 1/8-in. hex key,
rotate the 1/4-in. set screw labeled D clockwise until it contacts the
table.
