12. Of the six readings, divide the value of the reading of the greatest
deviation (+ or -) from 0 by 2:
Value of reading of greatest deviation from 0 / 2 = _____
13. Position the dial indicator stylus at the point of greatest deviation from
0.
14. While watching the dial indicator, using a 1/8-in. hex key, adjust the
1/4-in. set screw located nearest the point of greatest deviation from 0:
GOAL: The set screw should be adjusted until the indicator
reading matches the value determined by the
calculation done in Step 12., above.
Rotate the set screw clockwise or counterclockwise as needed until
the deviation from 0 of the indicator reading is diminished by 1/2.
Note: Do NOT adjust set screw D.
15. Repeat Steps 10., 11., 12., 13., and 14., above in this section until the
final leveling goal, shown below, is met.
FINAL
LEVELING
GOAL:
The indicator must read within +/- .001 in. of 0 at all
seven points.
16. When the final leveling goal has been met, using a 1/8-in. hex key,
rotate the 1/4-in. set screw labeled D clockwise until it contacts the
table.
