Tire Inflation and Care
Inflate and check tire s to recommended pre s sures given
on pa ge 47 with the tires cold ( at atm o sph e ri c temper -
atures), and n ot after a long run.
If your ti res are checked immediately af t er a long run,
do n ot ' pe rmit the attendan t to reduce the pres sure s by
le tt i ng out ai r. Wait until th e t ires have had a ch ance to
c oo l l:!efore check ing pressure s.
You
can ensu re mo re even we ar of all tires by having
yo ur S tudebak er dea ler c ris s-cro ss th em according to the
latest f act o ry re comme nda ti ons at ap pr oximately 4000 mile
(6437 km.) i
nt ervals. Ha ve tires and wh eels checked for
need of balance afte r each cr iss-crossing.
Octane Selector
The engine is equipped with an o ct ane selector which
permits the advance or re tar d of t he igni tion timin g to
give econo my of fuel consumption and noiseless combustion
re lati ve to the type of gasoline used. The selector sh ould
be
adjusted by your Studebaker dealer.
