Allcleaningshouldbedonewhentheheaterhascompletelycooled.Theseshouldbedoneinthe
beginningofwinterandonceortwiceduringtheseason,dependingonheaterusage.Withhigher
usage,cleaningmoreoftenisadvised.
31BPaintedSurfaces
Theseshouldcomecleanwithasimplewipeoverwithadampclothandifnecessarysomemild
cleansingagent.Donotuseanysolvents,harshorabrasivecleansersorscourers,asthesewilldamage
thepaintedsurfaces.
32BDoorglass
Sometimes,especiallyafteranovernightburn,ablackdepositmayappearontheinsideofthedoor
glass.Thisiscreosotedepositfromthefireburningatbelowitsoptimaltemperature.Mostorallofthis
willburnawaynexttimetheheaterisfullyfired.Forpersistentblackening,waittilltheglasshas
completelycooled,thencleanwithaplasticscoureranddetergent.Rinsethedetergentfromtheglass
andthendry.
33BFlue
Tocleantheflue,youwillneedtoremovethebaffleplate,andaccesstherooftoremovethefluecowl.
Usealonghandledfluebrushdesignedforthispurposetocleanthecreosotethathasbuiltupinsidethe
flue.Thecreosotewillfallintothefireboxwhereitwillbeburntonthenextfiring.Replacethecowland
baffleplatewhendone.

Atthebeginningofeachwinterseason,youshouldcheckthefollowingtoensureproperrunningof
yourheater.Anywornorcrackedpartsshouldbereplacedimmediatelyusingreplacementparts
specifiedbythemanufacturer.

Youshouldalsocheckthatmovingpartssuchasthedoorhandleandairslideworkcorrectly.Ifthereis
anystiffnessintheseparts,applylubricantratedforhightemperatureapplicationsasrecommendedby
themanufacturer.
