The Sunfire SubRosa SRS-210W-C is an in-wall cabinet subwoofer system, part of the Sunfire SubRosa XT Series, designed to deliver high-performance audio with minimal visual impact. This subwoofer system is comprised of three main components: the SRS-210W-C Cabinet, the SRS-210W-B Baffle, and the SRS-210W-G Grille. It is specifically engineered for custom installations, allowing it to be integrated seamlessly into a wall structure.
Function Description:
The Sunfire SubRosa subwoofer is a finely tuned system intended to provide deep, powerful bass for home theater and music listening environments. Its in-wall design allows for discreet placement, making it an ideal choice for users who desire high-quality audio without visible speakers. The system is capable of producing very high sound pressure levels, emphasizing its robust performance. It incorporates several advanced features to optimize sound quality and ease of installation.
Key features include:
- I-BEAM™ anti-shake mechanism: This proprietary technology is designed to reduce wall vibration, ensuring that the subwoofer's powerful output does not cause unwanted resonance or rattling in the surrounding structure.
- Dual ten-inch, High Back-emf woofers with neodymium magnets: These drivers are specifically chosen for their ability to deliver strong, accurate low-frequency reproduction. Neodymium magnets contribute to a powerful motor structure in a compact size.
- 2700W Tracking Downconverter™ companion amplifier: The subwoofer is designed to be used with the Sunfire SRA-2700EQ companion amplifier, which provides substantial power to drive the woofers effectively. This amplifier also includes room equalization capabilities to optimize the subwoofer's performance in any listening space.
- Fully automatic room equalization: When paired with the SRA-2700EQ amplifier, the system can automatically adjust its frequency response to compensate for room acoustics, ensuring balanced and accurate bass.

Usage Features:
The SubRosa subwoofer is designed for permanent in-wall installation, requiring careful planning and execution.
- Location: The subwoofer performs best in outstanding performance locations, such as corners or center locations, which can reinforce low frequencies. However, factors like standing waves, resonance, and absorption can affect performance. It is recommended to consult with Sunfire dealers or acoustical resources for optimal placement. The subwoofer should be kept at least two or three feet away from any TV screen, computer, VCR, or magnetic tapes and discs to avoid magnetic interference.
- Framing: Vertical mounting is recommended for residential construction, fitting between 2x4 studs spaced 16 inches apart. Horizontal mounting is also possible but requires additional framing steps. Specific instructions are provided for adding horizontal braces, attaching self-adhesive foam strips, and ensuring proper insulation.
- Cabinet Installation: The cabinet is lifted into the framing, checked for vertical alignment, and secured with woodscrews. Liquid Nails™ adhesive is used to firmly attach the cabinet to the framing, ensuring the front face is flush with the framing.
- Wiring: Class 2 wiring (16 or 12 gauge) is recommended. Low voltage practices should be followed to avoid interference. Speaker wires are connected to the subwoofer terminal cup, observing correct polarity, and secured to studs to prevent rattles.
- Final Rough-in: A debris shield is fitted into the cabinet opening to prevent dust and sheetrock debris from entering the cabinet during construction.
- Sheetrock Installation: Glue is applied to the framing surrounding the cabinet, and the sheetrock is installed, ensuring contact with the cabinet. The sheetrock is secured with screws, and the cabinet's aperture is carefully cut away.
- Woofer Baffle Installation: The woofer baffle assembly, including the two subwoofer drivers, I-BEAM™ anti-shake device, and crossover board, is installed after sheetrocking and finishing. The debris shield is removed, and the cabinet wires are connected to the crossover board. The baffle assembly is then secured to the in-wall cabinet using Allen-head screws and washers.
- Grille Installation: The grille frame and grille are installed, covering the woofer baffle assembly. The grille frame can be painted to match the wall decor. A paint shield is supplied for painting. The grille frame is secured to the woofer baffle using screws, and the grille is pressed into place.
Maintenance Features:
Given its in-wall installation, the SubRosa subwoofer is designed for minimal user maintenance once installed.
- Cleaning: The grille can be cleaned first, then taken to a well-ventilated area and painted with care to achieve a good finish.
- Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance on checking electrical continuity and ensuring proper connections during installation to prevent issues.
- Warranty: Sunfire Corporation provides a limited warranty for its products. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for five years from the date of original retail purchase. Damage caused by accident, misuse, abuse, or operation contrary to instructions is not covered. Service is handled through Sunfire Corporation's Technical Services Department.
