This document is a user manual for the SunQuest Pro 24RS, 24RSF, and 26RS sunbeds, providing comprehensive information on their installation, operation, and maintenance.
Function Description:
The SunQuest Pro 24RS, 24RSF, and 26RS are technologically advanced sun tanning units designed to provide a controlled tanning experience. These units utilize fluorescent lamps to emit ultraviolet (UV) radiation, simulating natural sunlight for tanning purposes. The 24RSF model includes a SolarMax™ IFT Face Tanner unit for enhanced facial tanning. The sunbeds are designed for individual use and come with safety features such as protective eyewear requirements, parental lock switches, and backup shut-off timers to ensure safe operation.

Usage Features:
- Pre-Installation Planning: Requires a dedicated 220V AC NEMA 6-20R electrical outlet capable of providing 20 Amp service, installed by a professional electrician and earth grounded. Maximum ambient room temperature should be 80°F, and the sunbed should be placed no closer than 6" from any wall to ensure proper airflow. Proper assembly requires three people.
- Assembly: Involves attaching stand legs to the bench, securing hinge brackets, and installing gas springs to support the canopy. Detailed instructions with hardware inventory (Allen-head bolts, metal washers, bushings, nylon washers, Allen wrench, safety goggles, hinge brackets) are provided.
- Electrical Connections: Connect the canopy to the bench power cord, ensuring proper polarization and tightening the threaded locking ring. Plug the three-prong 220V AC power cord into the dedicated outlet.
- Tanning Guidelines:
- Skin should be free of cosmetics, tanning oils, or other body lotions not specifically made for tanning devices.
- Hair should be free of gels, mousses, sprays, or other hair products, or a shower cap/towel should be used.
- Always wear provided protective eyewear.
- Untanned persons should not tan on consecutive days during their first week.
- Never tan more than once a day.
- Tanning normally appears after the first few sessions and maximizes after approximately four weeks.
- Maintain appearance by tanning once or twice per week thereafter.
- Persons with a base tan may begin at advanced levels.
- New lamps emit approximately 10% more UV radiation during the first 50 hours; reduce tanning times by 10% during this period.
- Exposure Times: A detailed table provides recommended exposure times based on skin type (Sensitive, Light, Normal, Dark) and tanning level (Level 1/Week 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4, Subsequent Maximum). Maximum exposure time is 20 minutes.
- Parental Lock: Equipped with a key-operated parental lock switch to monitor usage. The key can be removed in both locked and unlocked positions.
- Face Tanner (24RSF models): Activated by a rocker switch. Requires a cooling period before lighting again.
- Cool Down Period: After the timer reaches 0, lamps turn off, and cooling fans run for approximately 3 minutes.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning After Use:
- Clean and disinfect the bench and canopy with a non-abrasive, non-ammonia disinfectant cleaner.
- Wipe lamps with a soft cloth to remove film buildup.
- Clean both sides of acrylic shields with a non-ammonia disinfectant cleaner.
- Thorough Periodic Cleaning:
- Performed when dust buildup is observed on lamps and reflectors, which reduces tanning effectiveness.
- Remove acrylic shields and lamps (as described in "Replacing Lamps").
- Clean the inside of the bench and canopy.
- Re-install lamps and acrylic shields.
- Mechanical Inspection (every 400-500 hours):
- Inspect fasteners for firmness, especially hinge bolts.
- Inspect gas springs for wear; replace if they fail to hold the canopy open.
- Inspect the timer (as per "Timer Maintenance").
- Inspect the AC power cord and connections.
- Inspect acrylics; replace if broken, cracked, or badly scratched.
- Replacing Lamps:
- Change lamps after approximately 800-1000 hours of use for maximum tanning effectiveness.
- Replace lamp starters whenever lamps are replaced.
- Removing Acrylic Shields: Pry up the hinged profiles along their length until they swing back, then slide the acrylic shield out.
- Replacing Lamps: Grasp a lamp at one end and in the middle, turn a quarter turn, and remove. Reinstall by inserting pins into slots and turning a quarter turn.
- Replacing SolarMax™ IFT Face Tanner Lamp (F Models): Support the face tanner assembly, unscrew retaining screws, and swing the glass casing downward. Remove the old lamp from spring contacts and install the new lamp using a clean cloth or paper towel. Close and secure the glass casing.
- Timer Maintenance:
- Annually, or when relamping, check timer operation and accuracy.
- Test 1: Set the timer to maximum, time how long lamps stay on. They should shut off within +/- 10% of the interval.
- Test 2: Set the timer to maximum, wait ten minutes, then turn the knob back to maximum. The electronic time limiting circuit should turn lamps off at approximately 10% beyond the maximum interval.
- Contact ETS Customer Service if the timer malfunctions or if difficulty is experienced with tests.
- Troubleshooting Guide: Provides solutions for common issues such as lamps failing to light, individual lamps failing, canopy not staying in position, and sunbed not staying lit.
Warranty:
- Limited Lifetime Warranty: Covers structural defects in material and workmanship for the lifetime of the unit.
- Parts Replacement: 6 months from purchase date for defective parts (excluding acrylic shields, fluorescent lamps, and lamp starters).
- Labor Coverage: 30 days from purchase date.
- Exclusions: Normal wear, damage from misuse/abuse, transit damage, or damage from unauthorized repairs/modifications.
- Voided Warranty: If the unit is modified from its original design.
