the
steering
stem
nut

by
using
the
special
tool.

Steering
nut

wrench

Remove
the
steering
stem
nut,
dust
seal
and
upper
race,
and
draw
out
the
steering
stem.
NOTE:
Hold
the
steering
stem
lower
bracket
by
hand
to
prevent
from
falling.
e
Remove
the
upper
steering
stem
steel
balls.
I
Number
of
balls

e
Draw
out
the
lower
steering
stem
bearing
by
using
the
special
tool.
CAUTION:
The
removed
bearing
should
be
replaced.

Drive
out
the
steering
stem
bearing
races,
upper
and
lower,
by
using
the
special
tools.

INSPECTION
Inspect
the
removed
parts
for
the
following
abnor-
malities.
*
Handlebar
distortion
*
Handlebar
clamp
wear
*
Race
wear
and
brinelling
*
Steel
balls
wear
or
damage
*
Abnormal
noise
of
bearing
*
Distortion
of
steering
stem
Inspect
the
play
of
dampers
by
hands
while
fixing
it
in
the
steering
stem
upper
bracket.
If
the
play
can
be
found,
replace
the
dampers.
