VALVE
STEM
END
CONDITION
Inspect
the
valve
stem
end
face
for
pitting
and
wear.
If
pitting
or
wear
of
the
stem
end
face
are
present,
the
valve
stem
end
may
be
resurfaced,
providing
that
the
length
@
will
not
be
reduced
to
less
than
4.3
mm
(0.17
in).
If
this
length
becomes
less
than
4.3
mm
(0.17
in),
the
valve
must
be
replaced.
After
installing
a
valve
whose
stem
end
has
been
ground
off
as
above,
check
to
ensure
that
the
face
(2)
of
the
valve
stem
end
is
above
the
cotters
(3).
VALVE
SPRINGS
Check
the
springs
for
strength
by
measuring
their
free
lengths
and
also
the
force
required
to
compress
them.
If
the
limit
indicated
below
is
exceeded
by
the
free
length
reading
or
if
the
measured
force
does
not
fall
within
the
range
specified,
replace
both
the
inner
and
outer
springs
as
a
set.

Insert
the
valves,
with
their
stems
coated
with
(SUZUKI
MOLY
PASTE)
all
around
and
along
the
full
stem
length
without
any
break.
Similarly
oil
the
lip
of
the
stem
seal.

CAUTION:
When
inserting
each
valve,
take
care
not
to
damage
the
lip
of
the
stem
seal.
