Overview

This document outlines the programming instructions for RTS (Radio Technology Somfy) motor systems used with SWFCONTRACT™ shades, covering various controller types and motor specifications. It provides a comprehensive guide for users to set up, adjust, and maintain their motorized window treatments.

Function Description

The RTS motor system allows for wireless control of window shades using various remote controls and wall switches. Key functions include:

  • Operating Shades: Moving shades up, down, or to a predefined intermediate (preferred) position.
  • Adjusting Limits: Setting and modifying the upper and lower travel limits of the shade.
  • Setting Intermediate Position: Programming a custom "My" or preferred stop position for quick access.
  • Controller Management: Adding new controllers (remotes or wall switches) to operate a shade and deleting existing ones.
  • Factory Reset: Resetting the motor to its default factory settings, clearing all programmed limits and paired controllers.

Important Technical Specifications

The manual details programming for different motor types:

  • Line Voltage Motors (All 120V AC RTS Motors): These motors require specific power cycling sequences (unplugging and plugging in for set durations) for pairing controllers and performing factory resets.
  • Low Voltage Motors (Sonesse 30 (ST30) 24VDC and R28 12VDC): These motors utilize a dedicated program button on the motor itself for pairing and resetting, with specific jog sequences indicating successful operations.

Usage Features

The RTS system offers several user-friendly features:

  • Controller Overview:
    • Single-channel Handheld Remote/Wall Switch: Features dedicated buttons for UP, DOWN, and a "My" (STOP/INTERMEDIATE POSITION) button. A program button is located on the back.
    • Multichannel Handheld Remote/Wall Switch: Includes UP, DOWN, "My" buttons, a program button (often requiring a paper clip to access), and a channel selector with indicator lights to show the currently selected channel.
  • Adjusting Limits:
    • Changing Lower/Upper Limit:
      1. Send the shade to the current limit.
      2. Press both UP and DOWN simultaneously until the shade "jogs" (a brief movement indicating programming mode).
      3. Adjust the shade to the new desired limit position.
      4. Press the "My" or STOP button until the shade jogs to save the new limit.
  • Setting an Intermediate Position (Preferred Position):
    • Setting:
      1. Use UP/DOWN to move the shade to the desired intermediate position.
      2. Press the "My" or STOP button to stop the shade.
      3. Press and hold the "My" or STOP button until the shade jogs to save the position.
    • Using:
      1. From any stationary shade position, press the "My" or STOP button to send the shade to the programmed intermediate position.
  • Adding and Deleting a Channel/Controller:
    • Adding:
      1. Start with a controller already operating the shade.
      2. Press and hold its program button until the shade jogs.
      3. Select the new channel/controller to be added.
      4. Press and release the program button on the new controller until the shade jogs.
    • Deleting:
      1. (Note: Motorized shade must be programmed to more than one channel/controller for this step.)
      2. Select the controller/channel to be kept.
      3. Press and hold its program button until the shade jogs.
      4. Select the controller/channel to be deleted.
      5. Press and release the program button on the controller/channel to be deleted until the shade jogs.
      • Note for Low Voltage Motors: All controllers can be cleared by pressing and holding the motor program button for two consecutive jogs.
  • Pairing a Controller to a Motor:
    • Line Voltage Motors: Involves specific power cycling (unplugging for 2s, plugging for 10s, unplugging for 2s, plugging in again) followed by pressing and releasing the program button on the controller once the shade stops moving.
    • Low Voltage Motors: Press and hold the motor program button until the shade jogs once, then press and release the program button on the controller.

Maintenance Features

  • Reset to Factory Mode:
    • Line Voltage Motors: Similar power cycling sequence as pairing (unplug 2s, plug 10s, unplug 2s, plug in). Once the shade stops, press and hold the program button of any controller until the shade jogs twice. It's crucial not to release the button until the second jog is complete.
    • Low Voltage Motors: Press and hold the motor program button until the shade jogs three times.

The manual emphasizes the importance of observing the "jogs" (brief movements) of the shade, as these indicate successful entry into or exit from programming modes and confirmation of saved settings. Technical support contact information (phone and email) is provided for assistance.
