Install Hard Disk

Prepare Server and Remove Upper Case

Place server horizontally and slide upper case off to access the hard disk bay.

Install Hard Disk Drive

Place the 3.5" SATA HDD into the bay and secure it with screws.

Reassemble and Secure Case

Attach the upper case, slide it back, and fix it with the provided screws.

Turn On Server

Connect Power and Network

Connect the AC power adapter and LAN cable to the server and power outlet/hub.

Power Up Server

Press the power button on the front panel and wait for the POWER LED to turn constant blue.

Install System Software

Windows User Setup

Insert installation CD, select 'Set up the Synology Server' and follow instructions.

Mac User Setup - Initial Steps

Insert CD, double click CD-ROM thumbnail, then double click MacOSX.

Mac User Setup - Complete Installation

Double click .dmg file, then Synology Assistant to run the setup wizard.

Mac User Setup - Final Steps

Browse for the .pat file and follow on-screen instructions to complete setup.
