10. Adjusting the VCO Offset
1). Short between pin 1 and pin 2 on TP401 (XTEST).
(Pin 54 of the strobe IC HD49229 goes high and
the deck enters ADJUSTMENT mode.)
2). Connect the DC voltmeter across TP313 (PHSUB) and
GND.
3). Load a tracking test tape (TY-7251), and then set
the deck to PLAY mode.
4). Adjust trimmer resistor R345 so that the voltage at
TP313 is 2.5 + 0.5 V.
5). After the adjustment is complete, release TP401.
11. Adjusting the VCO free-running Frequency
1). Short between TP359 (AMPPIN) and GND.
2). Connect the frequency counter across TP312 (VCO)
and GND.
3). Adjust R342 so that the output frequency at TP312
is 6.580 + 0.5 MHz.
4). After the adjustment is complete, release TP359.
12. Adjusting Error Rates
1). Connect’ CH1 of the oscilloscope to TP360 (FLAG)
and CH2 to TP347 (SWH).
Load the function test tape TY-7551, then set the
deck to PLAY mode.
3). Adjust the EQ control VR5 (Fig. 6-2) on the RF unit
so that the error flag count is minimum.

13. Confirming Error Rates
1). Activate the Block Error Rate Measurement mode
(as explained in paragraph 2-2, page 3).
2). Play a no-signal recording on tape (TY-30B or
TY-30BX), and check that the error rate is 6x 10^?
orless, as read through individual heads A and B.

2). TP313 (PHSUB) と GND 問 に DC 電圧 計 を 接続 する 。
3). トラ ッ キ ング ・ テ ー プ (TY-7251) を 装着 し 、PLAY モ ー ド
に する 。
4). TP313 の 電圧 が 2.5 よ 0.5V に な る よう に 半 固 定 抵抗 R345 を
調整 する 。
5). 調整 後 、TP401 を 解放 する 。
11. VCO 自 走 周波 数 調整
1). TP359 (AMPPIN) と GND を 短絡 する 。
2). TP312 (VCO) と GND 間 に 周 波数 カウ ンタ を 接続 する 。
3). TP312 の 周波 数 が 6.580 よ 0.5MHz に な る よう に R342 を 調
整 する 。
4). 調整 後 、TP359 を 解放 する 。
12. エラ ー レ ー ト 調整
1). オシ ロス コー プ の CH1 を TP360 (FLAG) に 、CH2 を TP347
(SWH) に それ ぞ れ 接続 する 。
2). ファン クシ ョ ン ・ テ ー プ (TY-7551) を 再生 し た と き の エ ラ
ー・ フ ラグ の 数 が 最小 と な る 位置 に RF ユニット 内 の EQ 調
整 用 半 固定 抵抗 VR5 ( 図 6-2) を 調整 する 。
