7. The upper platen will not stay in the
Cook or Standby position.
a. Temperature is insufficient to satisfy
the LED indicators.
a. Wait until the LED indicators turn
green.
b. The control harness is faulty. b. Replace the control harness.
c. The processor control is faulty. c. Replace the processor control.
d. The interface board is faulty. d. Replace the interface board.
e. The latch switch is faulty. e. Replace the latch switch.
f. The latch solenoid is faulty. f. Replace the latch solenoid.
g. The pneumatic system is faulty. g. Find the air leak and repair it.
8. The upper platen will not stay in the
Cook position but will stay in the
Standby mode.
a. The processor control is not set
properly.
a. Check the time setting on the
processor control.
b. The product is out of specification. b. Product must be within
specification (proper thickness,
shape, etc.)
9. The upper platen will not stay in the
Standby mode but will stay in the Cook
position.
a. Faulty wire connection. a. Repair the wire connection.
b. Incorrect use of the STANDBY button.
The STANDBY button may have been
pressed twice too quickly.
b. Press the STANDBY button twice,
with a 1-second delay between
presses, to lower the platen into
the Standby position.
c. Faulty STANDBY button. c. Replace the STANDBY button.
10. The upper platen opens too quickly. a. The orifice/check valve is incorrect or
missing.
a. Replace the check valve.
11. The product is not cooking evenly. a. The upper platen or lower grill surface
is not clean and/or has carbon
buildup.
a. Closing procedures must be
followed to properly clean the
upper platen and the lower grill
surface, and to remove the carbon
buildup.
b. There is grease or carbon buildup on
the bottom of the upper platen handle.
b. Follow closing procedures to
properly clean and remove the
carbon buildup from the bottom of
the platen handle.
c. The release sheet is worn. c. Replace the release sheet.
d. The release sheet may be too loose,
causing poor heat transfer.
d. Readjust the release sheet to
ensure a snug fit. It should be tight
enough to prevent creasing,
sliding, or catching by the
squeegee.
e. The platen is not level. e. Re-level the platen.
f. The preset gap height is incorrect. f. Re-gap the grill.
