Appendix A: HarmonyVoicePrism User Manual
APPENDIX
A:
HARMONY
Here's where we can go into a little more depth about harmonies, for those of you
who would like to pick up a few extra tips on how to sound better or just impress
people at cocktail parties. We've tried to keep it practical, with a bit more of a
description of VoicePrism's harmony types.
VoicePrism has eight different harmony modes, which simplify into five unique
methods of creating harmony. Once we get into describing the more complex har-
mony modes, we’ll be showing you examples based on the C major scale. If you are
unfamiliar with this scale we’ve shown C major here.
“NONE”
No harmony voices, just compressor, EQ and effects. Not really harmony but we've
mentioned it for the sake of completeness.
“NOTES
(MANUAL)
HARMONY
MODES
You provide VoicePrism with MIDI note information to determine the pitch of the
harmony voices. A copy of the input audio is then shifted to that pitch. VoicePrism
has two “Manual/Notes” harmony modes, single and 4 channel (
NOTES4CH). NOTES4CH
allows you to send 4 channels of MIDI information, one for each individual harmony
voice. This is the most direct and flexible way of creating harmonies, allowing you to
weave complex melodies and counter harmonies irrespective of your lead vocal.
