Select
Button

Indicators
This
button
allows
you
to
select
which
signal
is
to
be
monitored
and
to
display
its
level
on
the
meter.
TAPE:
Selects
the
tape
signal
either
in
playback
and
record
mode,
SOURCE:
Selects
the
input
signal
con-
nected
to
the
LINE
IN
jacks.
The
level
displayed
by
the
meter
depends
on
the
setting
of
the
RECORDING
LEVEL
controls.
When
the
power
is
applied
to
the
deck,
the
monitor
mode
is
set
to
TAPE,
Pressing
this
button
each
time
changes
the
monitor
mode
and
the
indicator
lights
to
show
the
present
monitor
mode.
The
AUTO
MONITOR
function
automatically
changes
the
monitor
mode
in
record
and
record-
pause
mode,
In
recording,
the
monitor
should
be
set
to
TAPE
to
check
the
record-
ed
sound.
When
you
enter
the
record-
pause
mode
by
pressing
the
PAUSE
button,
the
monitor
signal
will
be
changed
to
SOURCE
and
when
you
resume
recording
by
pressing
the
»
button
again,
the
monitor
source
will
be
back
to
TAPE
automatically.

Pressing
this
button
causes
the
tape
to
run
at
normal
speed (from
left
to
right).
If
the
deck
is
in
the
record-pause
mode,
pressing

resumes
recording.

PHONES
Jack
Connect
8
ohms
stereo
headphones
to
this
jack
for
private
listening
or
monitoring.

PHONES
LEVEL
Control
This
knob
is
used
to
adjust
the
output
level
to
the
PHONES
jack,
This
knob
does
not
affect
the
output
level
to
the
OUTPUT
jacks
on
the
rear
panel
nor
the
level
in-
dicated
on
the
PEAK
LEVEL
METER.
BIAS
FINE
Tuning
Control
This
control
allows
fine
bias
level
setting
when
recording.
The
center
“click”
position
provides
a
nominal
amount
of
bias
current
depending
on
the
type
of
tape.
Turning
the
control
toward
+
increases
the
amount
of
bias
and
thus
decreases
high
frequency
response.
Turning
the
control
toward
decreases
the
amount
of
bias
and
thus
increases
high
frequency
response.
Keep
this
control
in
the
center
position
when
it’s
not
being
used.

SYSTEM

switch

deck

though

deck
is
set
to
allow
timer
recording
operation,
the
deck
will
enter

record-protection
tabs
are
removed
