Mains voltagealternates. This means the lights are continuously rising andfalling. Ordinary lights have elements which take time
to heat and cool so this flickering is not noticeable. Fluorescentlights flicker noticeably. If the camera is not synchronisedwith the
mainsfrequency,indoorphotographs,especiallythosetakeninfluorescentlight,maybeofpoorquality.
