Advice on how to get the best from your
Emeril by T-fal appliance
Everything is cooked from cold in the appli-
ance. There is no need to preheat the appli-
ance.
Remove the lid as little as possible to retain
heat. Look through the viewing window to
check on the cooking progress or to see if
the food is sufficiently brown.
There may be a few minutes variation in the
cooking or slight difference in the degree of
browning, even when cooking the same
recipe. This is because this appliance is more
sensitive to the variation in the initial tem-
perature of the food than a conventional
oven. Therefore, we advise you regularly
check on the cooking progress through the
viewing window near the end of the cooking
time.
Aluminium foil must never be used in this
appliance as it can result in overheating
which could cause the plastic parts on the
lid to melt.
Use parchment paper as an alternative for
aluminium foil.
This appliance cooks at a temperature of
375° F. When using existing recipes, take
this temperature into consideration and
alter your total cooking time accordingly.
When roasting, use roasting bags or multi-
purpose cooking bags, available in large su-
permarkets, as they help prevent fat
splashing and make cleaning easier.
Puddings and sponge cakes can be cooked
in either an ovenproof dish, silicone mould
or baking tin. If you are entertaining you can
cook puddings or cakes directly in the pan.
When baking sponge cakes and puddings,
the edges often cook quicker than the cen-
ter. Instead of cooking one large cake or
pudding you may prefer to cook the recipe
in individual ovenproof ramekins, pudding
tins or silicone moulds. These can be
arranged in a ring around the outer edge of
the pan so that they cook and brown evenly.
Test sponge cakes to check they are cooked
in the center before removing from the ap-
pliance. Insert a metal skewer or wooden
toothpick into the center and if any un-
cooked mixture is attached cook for a few
minutes longer. The cake should also be firm
to the touch.
