17 | Connection to the power supply
Attention!
An improper power connection may result in an electric shock.
The machine may only be operated on TN networks (with earthed neutral conductor).
To protect against electric shock, the operator must ensure that the machine is equipped
with a protective device (residual current circuit breaker).
Checking the loop impedance and the suitability of the overcurrent protective device
must take place at the location where the machine is to be commissioned.
The voltage fluctuations in the mains supply must not exceed 10 %.
Only connect the power plug once the machine is positioned in its operating location
(CEE plug).
Make sure that the main switch is switched off (position “0”) before connecting the pillar
drill to the power source.
The power supply cable must be protected against damage.
Note:
If you require an extension cord, we recommend the use of a cable that has a cross-section
of
3x 1.5 mm². Due to the expected external influences (oil, shavings, etc.), a rubber cable is
best suited.
If you have any doubts or questions concerning the electrical installations, please contact a
qualified electrician.
Fuse protection:
The on-site installation should be protected with a 10 A or 16 A slow-blow fuse. A residual-current circuit breaker is
state-of-the-art and mandatory. The DVR drive must be protected by an error threshold of 30 mA.
18 | Installation of the pillar drill
Please note the following factors when selecting a location for your pillar drill in order to be able to use it in the best
possible way:
1. Place the pillar drill near a power source and make sure that there is good lighting. Leave enough space
around the machine in order to be able to swivel the table around. Other objects and machines must not
affect the operation of the pillar drill.
2. Make sure that no shadow is cast on the workpiece. If possible, place the machine near a window.
3. There should be an earthed type F socket near the motor. Electrical cables and sockets must comply with
local electrical codes. In case of doubt, ask your electrician. Avoid using an extension cord.
4. Ensure adequate ventilation in your workshop. The degree of ventilation depends on the size of the
workshop and the amount of work that is done. The use of dust collectors and filters will reduce harmful
substances and minimise your health risk.
The power cord that is installed on the pillar drill includes an
earthing line.
Only connect the pillar drill to a suitable earthed socket.
Regularly inspect the power cable for signs of damage or ageing.
The machine must not be used if the power cable is not in perfect
condition.
