PREPARATION OF CONCRETE SURFACE
Use of a mechanical or vibrating screed to “strike” the concrete surface to level will
provide good compaction to the slab and produce an ideal surface for finishing. It should
be remembered that floating/finishing machines cannot repair or correct a poorly
screeded slab.
FLOATING OPERATION
Before attaching the floating disc, be sure that the blades are free of any cement. The
trowel blades must be in the flat position. When the slab has set sufficiently firm that the
operator’s footprint leaves a very slight impression, it is ready for the finishing step.
A standard trowel should be used to float the surface up to the walls or as close to any
obstacles as permitted and then be followed by the mini-trowel for the balance.
When the surface has set properly continue on to the next phase.
FINISHING OPERATION
After the floating operation, remove the floating disc from the finishing blades and clean
the blades, spider plate and rotating ring of cement / concrete paste collected during the
floating operation. Set the pitch to approximately 1/4 “ for the first pass and then continue
to increase the pitch on the following passes, continuing your passes until the desired
floor finish is obtained.
MAINTENANCE
PITCH ADJUSTMENT
The pitch knob is in easy reach of the operator permitting unlimited pitch variation at all
times. When finishing, the setting up/ hardening of the floor may vary from area to area
across the floor, so the pitch may be changed as required, while the machine is in
operation. When transporting the trowel, always keep the blades flat on the floating disc.
CAUTION
: NEVER LIFT THE MACHINE BY THE ROTATING RING. AVOID LEAVING
THE MACHINE RUNNING IN ONE SPOT ON THE CONCRETE TO MAINTAIN SURFACE
TOLERANCES.
CAUTION
: BE CAREFUL WHEN RUNNING THE TROWEL IN AREAS WHERE
STANDING WATER IS EVIDENT AS THE TROWEL WILL TEND TO SKATE AWAY. BE
SURE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AT ALL TIMES.
