Use a graphing utility to find the intercepts of the equation y = x

- 8 using Xmin = -5, Xmax = 5, Xscl = 1, Ymin = -20, Ymax = 10,
Yscl = 5.
The VALUE feature on a TI-83 evaluates an equation for any value of x and locates the
corresponding ordered pair on the graph of the equation. Letting x = 0 allows us to find
the y-intercept of the graph of an equation.
After graphing the equation, press 2

TRACE (this activates the CALC menu)
