CONCRETE SHELL PERFORMANCE CENTER
WHAT’S HAPPENING
You built a simple model that looks like the Sydney
Opera House. Your model is made of flexible plastic
rods, but the real opera house is made of cast
concrete shells covered in ceramic tiles. All of the
shells are sections of a perfect sphere. This
regularity allowed the builders to use the same
concrete molds over and over again, for each
section of a shell. Your model traces the outlines of
the Sydney Opera House.
