• If batteries leak and damage the valve (or handset) this is not a fault of the valve or gas fire.
• Battery leakage could potentially be caused by overheating, or poor air circulation, although the
control valve is designed to protect against this.
• Almost all batteries will leak eventually whether in use or not.
• To minimize the risk of battery leakage, the batteries should be changed well before they are
completely empty, and at a minimum once every 12 months as a preventative measure.
• Although any brand of alkaline AA battery can be used, some are known to be better than others. We
recommend ENERGIZER batteries, as they have performed well under test conditions, store power
well, and claim to be more resistant to leaking than competitor products.
3.5 WHERE TO OBTAIN SPARES.
All spare parts can be obtained from the manufacturer of the gas appliance. The model of the appliance must
be given to the manufacturer to ensure the correct spares and product configurations are issued.
3.6 WHERE TO OBTAIN MORE INFORMATION.
The gas appliance manufacturer should provide further details on their own website, but companion videos for
handset processes are available on YouTube (search for TESC Gas Control or subscribe to TESC Help channel).
