Youmustcorrectlyinstallthemulchplug(formulching
orside-discharging)orgrassbag(forbagging)orthe
enginewillnotstart.
Themowerhasasafetyswitch,locatedatthebottom
ofachannelonthetop,rightrearofthemower,that
preventsthemowerfromoperatingwithoutamulch
plugorgrassbag.Thispreventsthemowerfrom
throwingdebrisattheoperatorthroughtherearchute.
Fortheswitchtodetectthepresenceofthemulchplug,
thetopofthemulchpluglevermustliefullyinthe
bottomofthechannel(Figure13).

1.Insertthemulchplugintothemower,ifitisn’t
alreadyinstalled(Figure14).

2.Squeezethebuttonontheleverwithyourthumb
andfullyinsertthemulchplugintotheopening
(Figure14).
3.Releasethebuttonontheleverandensurethatthe
topoftheleverisliesfullyintheswitchchannel.If
thetopoftheleverisnotintheswitchchannel,
yourmowerwillnotstart!
Note:Iftheleverdoesnotlatchproperly,
disconnectthewirefromthesparkplugandcheck
forandremoveanydebrisbuildupinthetunnel.
