Usage Features:

The machine is designed for safe and efficient operation with various controls and features:

  • Controls: Brake pedal, pedal-locking latch, traction pedal, parking brake, tilt-steering lever, key switch (OFF, ON/PREHEAT, START), lift switches, PTO switch (OUT/START, IN/STOP), High-Low speed-control switch, cruise-control switch, power-point port.
  • Cab Controls (if equipped): Air-recirculation control, fan control, temperature control, windshield-wiper switch, air-conditioning switch, power outlet, lights switch, flashers switch, windshield latch, rear window latch.
  • InfoCenter LCD Display: Provides operating status, diagnostics, and other information. It features buttons for menu access, scrolling, and opening sub-menus, along with a beeper for advisories and faults.
  • Blade Selection: Options include Atomic Blade (wet, sticky, spring growth), Flat-Sail Blade (light/sparse turf), Standard-Sail Blade (normal cutting), and Medium-Sail Blade (all conditions to heavy growth).
  • Auto Idle: Automatically idles the engine when functions are not used for a pre-determined time (adjustable: Off, 8S, 10S, 15S, 20S, 30S).
  • Mowing Speed Adjustment: Supervisor-set maximum mowing speed (30-100% in 5% increments, low range). Operator can adjust within these settings.
  • Transport Speed Adjustment: Supervisor-set maximum transport speed (30-100% in 5% increments, high range). Operator can adjust within these settings.
  • Smart Power™: Automatically controls machine speed and optimizes cutting performance to prevent bogging down in heavy turf.
  • Fan-Reverse Operation: Automatically or manually initiated to blow debris off the rear screen and lower engine/fluid temperatures.
  • Rollover Protection System (ROPS): Essential safety device. Operators are instructed to keep the roll bar in the raised, locked position and use the seat belt. Foldable roll bars should be lowered only when necessary, and the seat belt should not be worn in the down position.
  • Slope Operation: Requires extra caution. Operators are advised to evaluate site conditions, avoid starting/stopping/turning on slopes, drive slowly, remove obstructions, and be aware of traction loss.
  • Pushing or Towing: In emergencies, bypass valves can be actuated to move the machine at 3 to 4.8 km/h (2 to 3 mph).

Maintenance Features:

The manual outlines a detailed maintenance schedule and procedures to ensure the machine's longevity and safe operation.

  • Daily/Before Each Use: Check tire pressure, safety-interlock switches, brake operation, engine-oil level, cooling-system-fluid level, water/fuel separator, air filter, radiator/screen for debris, hydraulic-fluid level, hydraulic hoses, fluid leaks, fuel level, instrument operation, height-of-cut adjustment, grease fittings, clean machine, touch up paint.
  • After the First Hour: Torque wheel lug nuts.
  • After the First 10 Hours: Torque wheel lug nuts, check alternator-belt tension, compressor belt tension, blade-drive-belt tension.
  • Every 25 Hours: Check battery electrolyte level.
  • Every 50 Hours: Lubricate all bearings and bushings, inspect air cleaner, check battery condition, check blade-drive-belt tension, change front planetary-gear oil.
  • Every 100 Hours: Inspect cooling-system hoses/clamps, alternator-belt tension, compressor belt tension.
  • Every 200 Hours: Torque wheel lug nuts, change rear-axle lubricant.
  • Every 250 Hours: Clean cab air filters, clean air-conditioning coil.
  • Every 400 Hours: Service air cleaner, inspect fuel lines/connections, replace filter canister, replace engine fuel filter, check planetary drive end-play, check rear-axle lubricant, check rear-axle-gearbox lubricant.
  • Every 500 Hours: Change engine oil and filter.
  • Every 800 Hours: Change front planetary-gear oil (or yearly), change rear-axle lubricant, check rear wheel toe-in, inspect blade-drive belt, change hydraulic fluid/filter (if not using recommended fluid or alternative fluid was used), inspect cutting unit caster-wheel assemblies.
  • Every 1,000 Hours: Drain and clean fuel tank, replace hydraulic filter (if using recommended fluid), check/adjust valve clearance.
  • Every 2,000 Hours: Change hydraulic fluid (if using recommended fluid).
  • Every 3,000 Hours: Disassemble, clean, and assemble the DPF soot filter.
  • Every 2 Years: Flush cooling system, replace fluid, drain/flush hydraulic tank, replace moving hoses.
  • Before Storage: Drain and clean fuel tank.
  • DPF Regeneration: Passive, Assist, Reset, Parked, and Recovery regeneration processes are detailed, including conditions, operation, and recommended actions. The InfoCenter displays soot accumulation levels and regeneration requests.
  • Engine Oil: Use high-quality, low-ash engine oil meeting API CJ-4 or higher, ACEA E6, or JASO DH-2 specifications. Preferred viscosity is SAE 15W-40 (above 0°F), alternate is SAE 10W-30 or 5W-30 (all temperatures).
  • Fuel: Use ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel (No. 1-D S15 or No. 2-D S15 in USA, EN 590 in Europe, ISO 8217 DMX internationally, JIS K2204 Grade No. 2 in Japan, KSM-2610 in Korea). Biodiesel blends up to B20 (20% biodiesel, 80% petrodiesel) can be used, provided the petroleum diesel portion is ultra-low sulfur.
  • Coolant: Use a 50/50 solution of water and ethylene glycol base extended-life coolant meeting ATSM International D3306/D4985 or SAE International J1034/J814/1941 standards.
  • Hydraulic Fluid: Toro PX Extended Life Hydraulic Fluid (ISO VG 46) is recommended. Alternative petroleum-based hydraulic fluids with specific material properties are also acceptable.
  • Blade Maintenance: Regular inspection for wear/damage, sharpening, and replacement of bent blades are crucial.
  • Cleaning: Thorough washing of the machine after mowing, keeping the radiator and oil cooler free of debris, and cleaning cab air filters and air-conditioning coils.
