InspectingandSharpeningthe
Blade
1.Raisethecuttingdecktothehighestposition,
shuttheengineoff,andengagetheparkingbrake.
Blockthecuttingdecktopreventitfromfalling
accidentally.OntheGroundsmaster3500-Dand
3500-G,securethecuttingdeckservicelatch.
2.Examinethecuttingendsofthebladecarefully,
especiallywheretheatandcurvedpartsofthe
blademeet(
Figure15).Sincesandandabrasive
materialcanwearawaythemetalthatconnects
theatandcurvedpartsoftheblade,checkthe
bladebeforeusingthemachine.Ifwearisnoticed
(
Figure15),replacetheblade;refertoRemovingthe
CutterBlade.
DANGER
Ifthebladeisallowedtowear,aslotwillform
betweenthesailandatpartoftheblade
(
Figure15).Eventuallyapieceoftheblademay
breakoffandbethrownfromunderthehousing,
possiblyresultinginseriousinjurytoyourself
orbystanders.
•Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearor
damage.
•Alwaysreplaceawornordamagedblade.
