ReplacingtheDriveBelt
Ifdrivebeltbecomesworn,oil-soaked,excessivelycracked,
frayed,orotherwisedamaged,replacethebelt.
1.Removethe4boltsthatholdthedrive-beltcover
(Figure30)inplace.

Note:Thelowerfrontcornerofthedrivebeltcover
isfasteneddownwithasmallerbolt,awasher,anda
locknut.
2.Removethebeltfromtherotorpulley.

3.Pressdownontheidlerarmandremovethebeltfrom
betweenthetabontheidlerarmbrakeandtherotor
pulley.
Note:Theenginepulleybeltguideisveryclosetothe
pulley,andthebeltmaynottthroughthegap.
4.Twistthebeltoutinfrontofthebeltguidesothatthe
beltiswedgedbetweenthebeltguideandtheengine
pulley.
5.Insertascrewdriverintotheholeinthebeltguideas
showninFigure32,andexthebeltguidetowardthe
rotorpulleyenoughtopullthebeltthroughthegap.

6.Toinstallthenewdrivebelt,reversethestepsabove.
Important:Ensurethatyouinstallthedrivebelt
sothatitsitsabovethe2tabsontheidlerarmand
belowtheidlerarmbrake(Figure31).
7.Installthedrivebeltcoverwiththefastenersthatyou
removedinstep1.
