1.Inspectthesafetylter.Ifitisdirty,replaceboth
thesafetyandprimarylters.
Important:Donotattempttocleanthe
safetylter.Ifthesafetylterisdirty,then
theprimarylterisdamaged.
2.Inspecttheprimarylterfordamagebylooking
intothelterwhileshiningabrightlightonthe
outsideofthelter.Iftheprimarylterisdirty,
bent,ordamaged,replaceit.
Note:Holesinthelterappearasbrightspots.
Donotcleantheprimarylter.
InstallingtheFilters
Important:Topreventenginedamage,always
operatetheenginewithbothairltersandthe
coverinstalled.
1.Ifyouareinstallingnewlters,checkeachlter
forshippingdamage.
Note:Donotuseadamagedlter.
2.Ifyouarereplacingtheinnerlter,carefullyslide
itintothelterbody(Figure38).
3.Carefullyslidetheprimarylteroverthesafety
lter(Figure38).
Note:Ensurethattheprimarylterisfully
seatedbypushingontheouterrimwhile
installingit.
Important:Donotpressonthesoft,inside
areaofthelter.
4.Installtheair-cleanercoverwiththebreathercap
down,androtatesothattheretainingclamps
lockthecoverinplace(Figure38).
5.Closetheengineguard;refertoOpeningthe
EngineGuard(page29).
