inside ar ea of the filter .
3. Install the air cleaner co v er and secure the
latc hes ( Figure 36 ).
Servicing the Engine Oil
Chang e engine oil:
Chang e the engine oil after the first 8 operating
hours .
Chang e the engine oil after ev er y 100 operating
hours .
Note: Chang e oil more frequently when
operating conditions are extremely dusty or sandy .
Oil T ype: Deterg ent oil (API ser vice SH, SJ , SL
or higher)
Crankcase Capacity:
67 oz. (2.0 l) when the oil filter is remo v ed.
61 oz. (1.8 l) when the oil filter is not remo v ed.
Viscosity: See table belo w

Checking the Oil Level
Note: Chec k the oil when the engine is cold.
1. Diseng ag e the PTO , mo v e the motion control
lev ers to the neutral loc k ed position and set
the parking brak e .
2. Stop the engine , remo v e the k ey , and w ait for
all mo ving par ts to stop before lea ving the
operating position.
3. Clean around the oil dipstic k ( Figure 38 ) so
dir t cannot fall into the filler hole and damag e
the engine .
4. Pull the oil dipstic k and wipe the end clean
( Figure 38 ).
5. Slide the oil dipstic k fully into the filler tube .
Pull the dipstic k out and look at the metal end
( Figure 38 ). If oil lev el is lo w , slo wly pour only
enough oil into the filler tube to raise the lev el
to the full mark.
Important: Do not o v erfill the crankcase
with oil because this may cause engine
dama ge. Do not r un the engine with oil
belo w the lo w mar k because the engine
may be dama ged as a r esult.

Changing the Oil
1. Star t the engine and let it r un fiv e min utes .
T his w ar ms the oil so it drains better .
2. P ark the mac hine so that the drain side is
slightly lo w er than the opposite side to assure
the oil drains completely .
3. Diseng ag e the PTO , mo v e the motion control
lev ers to the neutral loc k ed position and set
the parking brak e .
