ServicingtheCuttingBlades
Maintainsharpbladesthroughoutthecuttingseasonbecause
sharpbladescutcleanlywithouttearingorshreddingthegrass
blades.Tearingandshreddingturnsgrassbrownattheedges,
whichslowsgrowthandincreasesthechanceofdisease.
Checkthecutterbladesdailyforsharpness,andforany
wearordamage.Filedownanynicksandsharpenthe
bladesasnecessary.Ifabladeisdamagedorworn,replace
itimmediatelywithagenuineTororeplacementblade.For
convenientsharpeningandreplacement,youmaywantto
keepextrabladesonhand.
WARNING
Awornordamagedbladecanbreak,andapiece
ofthebladecouldbethrownintotheoperator's
orbystander'sarea,resultinginseriouspersonal
injuryordeath.
Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearor
damage.
Replaceawornordamagedblade.
BeforeInspectingorServicingthe
Blades
Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengagetheblade
controlswitch,andmovethemotioncontrolleversoutward
totheparkposition.Stoptheengineandremovethekey.
InspectingtheBlades
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Checkthe
cuttingblades.
1.Inspectthecuttingedges(
).Iftheedgesarenotsharp
orhavenicks,removeandsharpentheblades;refer
toSharpeningtheBlades.
2.Inspecttheblades,especiallythecurvedarea().Ifyou
noticeanydamage,wear,oraslotforminginthisarea
(item3in),immediatelyinstallanewblade.

Note:Themachinemustbeonalevelsurfaceforthe
followingprocedure.
1.Raisethemowerdecktothehighestheight-of-cut
position;alsoconsideredthe'transport'position.
2.Whilewearingthicklypaddedglovesorotheradequate
handprotectionslowlyrotatebladetobemeasured
intoapositionthatallowseffectivemeasurementof
thedistancebetweenthecuttingedgeandthelevel
surfacethemachineison.
