Why is the cutting deck on my Toro Lawn Mower not raising?
    • V
      Vickie TurnerSep 13, 2025
If the cutting deck on your Toro Lawn Mower will not raise, several potential issues could be at fault. Begin by ensuring the engine RPM is at the correct level; increase it if it is too low. Check the hydraulic oil level in the reservoir and add oil if necessary. Inspect the lift arm pivots and free up or repair them if they are binding. Examine the lift cylinder for damage and repair or replace it if needed. Inspect the relief valve in the lift/lower control valve to ensure it is not stuck, and repair or replace if necessary. Repair or replace the pilot valve if it's damaged or sticking. Repair or replace the faulty proportional flow divider. Finally, inspect and repair or replace the inefficient gear pump section for the lift/lower control valve.

What to do if my Toro Groundsmaster 4100-D Lawn Mower has no traction power?
    • S
      Susan MeltonSep 13, 2025
If your Toro Lawn Mower loses traction power or won't move in either direction, several issues could be responsible. First, check and release the brakes to ensure they are not engaged or sticking. Inspect and repair or reconnect any damaged or disconnected traction control linkage. Verify the hydraulic reservoir oil level and add oil if it's low. Examine the piston pump by-pass valve for damage and repair or replace it if necessary. Increase the charge pressure if it's low, and also increase the traction circuit pressure if it's low. Finally, inspect and replace any damaged front wheel motor couplers.

Why is the hydraulic system on my Toro Lawn Mower operating too hot?
    • A
      Alexandra BriggsSep 12, 2025
If the hydraulic system in your Toro Lawn Mower is operating hot, several factors could be the cause. First, ensure the engine RPM is at the correct level; increase it if it's too low. Check the hydraulic reservoir oil level and add oil if needed. The hydraulic oil might be contaminated or the wrong type, in which case, replace it with the correct hydraulic oil. Inspect the brakes to ensure they are not engaged or sticking. Examine the piston pump by-pass valve for damage and repair or replace if necessary. Check the cooling system for any malfunctions. Make sure the charge pressure is adequate, and adjust the traction circuit pressure if it's incorrect. Finally, inspect the pumps or motors for damage and repair or replace them as needed.

Why will cutting deck not raise on my Toro Groundsmaster 4100-D?
    • K
      Kevin YangSep 12, 2025
If the cutting deck (or wing decks) on your Toro Lawn Mower will not raise, it could be due to several reasons: the engine RPM is too low; the hydraulic oil level in the reservoir is low; the solenoid valve (S1) in the lift/lower manifold is faulty; there is an electrical problem; the lift arm pivots are binding; the relief valve in the lift/lower manifold is stuck; the lift cylinder(s) is (are) damaged; or the gear pump section for the lift/lower circuit is inefficient. Increase the engine RPM, maintain the correct hydraulic oil level, repair or replace the faulty solenoid valve, troubleshoot the electrical system, free up any binding lift arm pivots, repair or replace the stuck relief valve, inspect the lift cylinder(s) for damage, and check the gear pump section for efficiency.

Why does cooling fan always rotates at fast speed on my Toro Lawn Mower?
    • K
      Katherine GonzalezSep 10, 2025
If the cooling fan on your Toro Lawn Mower always rotates at fast speed, it could be due to a faulty fan control manifold proportional relief valve (PRV) or an electrical problem preventing the fan control manifold proportional relief valve (PRV) from operating. Repair or replace the faulty PRV and troubleshoot the electrical system.

    • J
      Justin Barr MDSep 9, 2025
If the cooling fan on your Toro Lawn Mower does not rotate, it could be due to a worn or damaged fan motor, or a worn or damaged gear pump section for the engine cooling fan circuit. Repair or replace the worn or damaged fan motor and inspect the gear pump section for damage.

What to do if my Toro Lawn Mower has lost traction power?
    • K
      Katherine CaldwellAug 25, 2025
If your Toro Lawn Mower loses traction power or won't operate in either direction, it could be due to a low hydraulic reservoir oil level, an open or damaged piston pump by-pass valve, low charge pressure, low traction circuit pressure, or damaged front wheel motor couplers. Ensure the hydraulic reservoir oil level is correct, repair or replace the piston pump by-pass valve, check and adjust the charge pressure and traction circuit pressure, and inspect the front wheel motor couplers for damage.

Why won't one cutting deck section operate on my Toro Lawn Mower?
    • B
      Brian SimmonsSep 6, 2025
If one cutting deck section on your Toro Lawn Mower won't operate, it could be due to an electrical problem, low system pressure to the affected deck, a damaged Woodruff key on the affected deck motor, a faulty solenoid valve (S) in the PTO manifold for the affected deck, a damaged or sticking cartridge valve in the PTO manifold for the affected deck, or damage to the deck motor or gear pump section. Troubleshoot the electrical system, check the system pressure, replace the damaged Woodruff key, repair or replace the solenoid valve, and inspect the cartridge valve and deck motor.

Why does my Toro Lawn Mower travel too far before stopping?
    • L
      lopezmarySep 5, 2025
If your Toro Lawn Mower travels too far before stopping when the traction pedal is released, the traction linkage may be out of adjustment, the traction pedal may not be returning to neutral, the charge pressure may be low, or the piston (traction) pump servo control valve orifices may be plugged or damaged. Adjust the traction linkage, ensure the traction pedal returns to neutral, check the charge pressure, and clean or replace the piston pump servo control valve orifices.
